Mentoring is important. We all know that. But do you really know how important it is for OUR kids? Research shows that black youth are in desperate need of more positive mentors and role models to address these disturbing statistics. Here are five facts I bet you didn’t know:
- Of all Black fourth-graders, 58% are functionally illiterate
- In some cities, 80% of our boys drop out before finishing high school
- Every day 1,000 Black children are arrested
- Black girls are over represented in confinement, expulsions, and punishment
We need more African American adults to engage in mentoring relationships and programs with our youth! What can you do? You can play a huge role in reversing this trend by staring your own youth mentoring program. By having your own program, you learn how to develop your passion into a unique, marketable, and sustainable organization that can be based in a faith, community, or school-based program. Most importantly, you begin to be the change you want to see in your own community!
Let me show you how to start your own program from scratch with my live webinars and trainings. My webinars are perfect for community engagement directors, school counselors/social workers, school principals, church youth directors, social service organizations, fraternities/sororities, and college students giving back.
